President of Georgia will submit Mamuka Bakhtadze's candidacy to the parliament today, - president's parliamentary secretary Ana Natsvlishvili said.

According to her, the President’s opinion differs from the opinion of the ruling party about who should be candidate for the Prime Minister's post, but he will act within the constitutional obligation.

"Yesterday the parliamentary majority chose and submitted a candidate for the Prime Minister's post to the President. Pursuant to the Constitution of Georgia, the President of Georgia shall submit this candidacy to the Parliament of Georgia. The Constitution of Georgia explicitly states that the President of Georgia shall submit a candidate elected by the majority to the Parliament of Georgia. The Constitution does not envisage any alternative action. Naturally, the President of Georgia will act exactly in accordance with the Constitution of Georgia," Natsvlishvili said.

According to her, the President has expressed his political position in a public statement. "He made a statement that Bidzina Ivanishvili should have been named as a candidate, but the ruling team made a different choice, "said Ana Natsvlishvili.
