France calls on Gaddafi to relinquish power

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has to leave power, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told a press conference after talks with his Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Gul, Itar-Tass reports.
 
Sarkozy noted that France insists on convening the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Libya.

The French president called the events in the Middle East “a turning point” in its history.
