Ali Akbar Salehi: terrifying future awaits world if it doesn’t oppose US policy
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaHead of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi warned Friday of “terrifying future” if Europe doesn’t actively oppose US policy, Al-Manar TV reported.
“If Europe and rest of the world’s countries that support the nuclear deal don’t actively oppose the US’s policy, the region and the entire world would have a terrifying future with no security on a scale that has not been seen yet,” the Iranian official said during a conference in Norway.
Salehi further reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is meant for peace purposes only.
Meanwhile, he stressed that it is “unacceptable” that Iran honors the 2015 nuclear pact while the sanctions are still in effect.
He called for genuine and practical measures by the European parties to save the accord, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Tasnim news agency reported.
“In order to preserve BARJAM (a Persian acronym for the JCPOA), we need our expectations and needs to be met and cruel sanctions to be lifted permanently,” Salehi asserted.
