Iran protests against logo of London-2012 Olympic Games
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIran has lodged a protest against the logo of the London-2012 Olympic Games and filed a letter to the International Olympic Committee, ISNA reports.
Iran says that the special style of the “2012”, in the form of triangles, with the word “London” and five Olympic rings, resembles the word “Zion” (referring to Jerusalem).
The letter was signed by the head of the Iranian Olympic Committee, Mohammad Ali Abadi, and the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Iran, Bakhram Afsharzade. The letter is addressed to the President of the IOC, Jacques Rogge. Iran wants the logo to be reconsidered.
The logo was developed by Wolff Olins and cost 400,000 pounds.
