Moscow pays last respects to Orkhan Dzhemal
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA farewell ceremony for Russian journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, who were killed in the Central African Republic, has started in Moscow.
Salat al-Janazah, the funeral prayer, is taking place at the Moscow metropolitan mosque. It is attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani embassy in Russia and the Russian representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reports.
Dzhemal will be buried in the Moslem section of the Khovanskoye cemetery.
A closed farewell ceremony for cameraman Kirill Radchenko, also killed in the CAR, took place earlier today at Tsaritsyno Mortuary at 11:00. Radchenko’s funeral will take place today.
On July 31, the Russian Embassy in the Central African Republic said that three men were found dead near the city of Sibut (300 kilometers north of the CAR’s capital city Bangui) on July 30. The Russian Foreign Ministry later reported they had press cards featuring the names Kirill Radchenko, Alexander Rastorguyev and Okhran Dzhemal. They entered the country as tourists and came to the CAR to work on a documentary. The journalists’ bodies were transported to Russia on August 5. Russia's Investigative Committee conducted a forensic medical examination of the bodies.
The staff of the information-analytical agency offers condolences to the families of the Russian journalists.
