U.S. President Donald Trump said he had authorized higher tariffs on imports from Turkey, imposing a 20% duty on aluminum and 50% one on steel.

"I have just authorized a doubling of Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum with respect to Turkey as their currency, the Turkish Lira, slides rapidly downward against our very strong Dollar!" Trump wrote on his Twitter page. "Aluminum will now be 20 percent and Steel 50 percent. Our relations with Turkey are not good at this time!"

Earlier, the U.S. Treasury Department acted against Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul and Interior Minister Suleyman Soylublocking their access to U.S. assets and banning form entering the U.S. The United States has blamed both ministers for being involved in the imprisonment and arrest of Andrew Brunson.
