France has sent a Mistral helicopter to Libya for the evacuation of Egyptian workers on the border of Libya and Tunisia, AFP cites the French Defense Ministry as saying on Wednesday.

The helicopter near the coast of Portugal will enter the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday night. After entering Port Toulon it will be escorted by the Georges-Leygues frigate to the Libyan coast.

Mistral and Georges-Leygues are part of the Jeanne d’Arc group. They will take up to 800 people on board.
