The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, commenting on the agreement on the Chechen-Ingush border, stressed that the parties agreed without the participation of any intermediaries.

"We have decided on the border without a third party. We found the strength to close this topic. Nobody forced us to do so, " Interfax quotes him as saying.

He also explained the principles of a land exchange between the two republics: Chechnya ceded 1,89 thousand hectares to Ingushetia and received the same-sized area.
