US vice-president sums up results of “restart”
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAhead of his visit to Moscow, US Vice President Joe Biden summed up results of the “restart” of relations with Russia. He said that he and Barack Obama decided to change the direction of relations with Russia right after winning the election.
Biden stated that in the 2 years since it was launched the “restart” policy had brought positive results to both countries, one of the most successful of which is the signing of the new START agreement.
Within the framework of “restart” the 123 treaty on using peaceful nuclear energy was agreed. As for cooperation with other states, Russia expanded its influence in Afghanistan and let the US transport armaments and supplies through its territory.
Biden stressed that Russia and the US are cooperating in the sphere of democratization of Kyrgyzstan and imposing sanctions on Iran.
