New mayor of Yerevan refuses his words three hours after inauguration

Hayk Marutyan, who was inaugurated today as a mayor of Yerevan, has already managed to reject one of his statements made after the ceremony in an interview with journalists. It happened after Yerevan residents were outraged by his words about the need to increase fares for public transportation.

Becoming the mayor, Marutyan said that the fares could be raised since from 2013 everything except the public transportation has risen in price in the city. He linked the stability of tariffs with the authorities' fear of the population’s wrath.
