Jugba-Sochi road to be restored in mid-May

The landslide-stricken Jugba-Sochi highway in Tuapse is planned to be restored before May, RIA Novosti cites the deputy head of the federal road agency in KrasnodarTerritory Pavel Petrichenko.


The landslide started on February 8. 50 meters of road were damaged. The road moved by 10 meters. It was the largest landslide in the last 30 years.


Earlier plans were to finish reconstruction by March 12.


Pterichenko clarified that heavy transport weighing up to 25 tons will use the road.


The highway will need 200 million rubles for reconstruction.


Traffic was closed on February 10. The Shaumian mountain pass is used as a by-pass. Naval and railway transport is operating. A ferry between the ports Novorossiysky and Imereti is used.


A reverse line of the highway was opened for cars and buses weighing under 5 tons on February 22.
