Germany's energy company Wintershall has stopped activities in Iran over U.S. sanctions against Tehran, the Wintershall Executive Board member Martin Bachman said.

"We are forced to stop our work in Iran because of sanctions introduced by the United States," he said at a press briefing held within the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition and Conference.

The second package of U.S. sanctions, including restrictions targeting the country's oil industry, came into force on November 5, Sputnik recalls.
