Iraqi Foreign Minister invites Lavrov to visit republic

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim invited Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to visit the middle Eastern country, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said Wednesday in a statement, UrduPoint reported.

Earlier in the day, Alhakim discussed bilateral relations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in Baghdad, according to the ministry.

"The [Iraqi] foreign minister invited his Russian counterpart Mr. Lavrov, to visit Iraq in the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries. On his part, Mr. Bogdanov expressed Moscow's aspiration to cooperate with Baghdad in various fields, stressing the desire of Russiancompanies to invest in Iraq," the statement reads.
