Georgian law enforcement operation in Abkhazia
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Georgian law enforcement bodies have managed to detain Merhab Kolbaia, a resident of Abkhazia, after five days of a special operation. Merhab Kolbaia is the leader of a terrorist group which has been organizing “strange terrorist attacks” in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia. They were ranked as “strange” at first because the organizers tried to avoid human causalities by staging the attacks during the night. Following this strategy, the group attacked the American embassy in Tbilisi, a railway bridge in Western Georgia and a railway station in Tbilisi.
On the 5th of December the Georgian law enforcement bodies announced the arrest of Goghita Arkania, a resident of Abkhazia. Goghita Arkania has confessed to being a member of Kolbaia’s group and has pointed to a representative of the Russian espionage services, Evgeny Borisov, as the chief commander of the group.
The Abkhaz authorities, however, are claiming that Kolbaia was in fact detained by Georgian forces on the territory of Georgia.
