Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov highlighted that Saudi Arabia is ready to take part in an investigation into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"We seek to continue fostering bilateral Russian-Saudi relations," the spokesman said. "President Putin and the Crown Prince held a rather fruitful and substantive discussion on the sidelines of the summit," TASS cited him as saying.

Peskov recalled that at the talks the sides discussed not only the Russian-Saudi bilateral relations but the two countries' cooperation within the OPEC.

Khashoggi was funding an "electronic army" to fight with Saudi state propaganda, according to his private Whatsapp messages published by CNN International.

Khashoggi went missing on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. The Saudi Prosecutor General's Office has since concluded that he was killed inside the consulate by lethal injection before his body was dismembered and removed from the building.
