Moscow official appointed as new Makhachkala mayor
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Dagestan authorities have decided on the candidacy of the Makhachkala mayor, the republic's head Vladimir Vasilyev said, adding that it is the head of the council of the Moscow's Basmanny district, Salman Dadaev.
Vasilyev described Dadaev as a young and energetic person. "Of course, it was coordinated with everyone," Interfax cited the Dagestan head as saying.
Salman Dadaev was born in 1979. In 2002, he graduated from the Law Faculty of Dagestan State University with honors. Since last May he has served as the head of the Basmanny district's council.
Director of the Educational and Scientific Center for the Study of Ethnopolitical and Ethno-Cultural Processes of the Russian State University for the Humanities, Magomed Omarov, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted the effectiveness of appointing people not related to the republic, or those having strong ties with the federal center, to senior positions in Dagestan.
"There have been a lot of positive things in Dagestan during the time of Vladimir Vasiliev, Artem Zdunov and their teams work. Of course, many are dissatisfied, purely on a psychological level. By the way, I was asked several times to find Dagestani people for service in the republic, which have good reputation in Moscow - and some of those with whom I spoke agreed to this," he said.
"Now changes in the life of Dagestan are obvious. Many problems that have accumulated in the republic, including socio-economic tensions, low employment, extremism, are being resolved. Of course, the whole complex of tasks cannot be solved in a year or two, but Dagestan is working systematically towards this. Vladimir Vasilyev showed himself to be a competent and result-oriented person, and we all see it," Magomed Omarov emphasized.
