There has been a surge in the demand for spending New Year holiday vacations in Turkey, some travel companies said about doubled number of bookings compared with the previous year, according to the statement, published on the website of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

According to one of the major national tour operators, there are no trips to most of the New Year dates left.

In winter and on New Year's holidays, travelers book four- and five-star all-inclusive hotels in Turkey. First of all, tourists go to Belek, Side, Antalya, Alanya and Kiris.

New Year's tours to Turkey for two people now can be purchased from tour operators at prices ranging from 42-49 thousand rubles a week (with a return flight, transfers, all-inclusive and medical insurance). The average will be higher - from up to 60 thousand rubles for seven days.

The executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Maya Lomidze, speaking to Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that in the first place tourists are interested in Turkey due to the price. All other tourist destinations are more expensive," she said, adding that domestic tourism is still the most popular.

Professor of the Department of Business Process Management in Production and Service of RANEPA, Galina Dekhtyar, in turn, also stressed the affordable prices for spending vacations in Turkey. "The people waited for the opening of tours to Egypt, but according to forecasts, if the opening takes place, it will be as early as February. The most important thing is that this is not  the most expensive destination, spending vacations in which can be truly comfortable, with a rather short flight," she pointed out.
