Iran withdraws ambassador from Bahrain

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has withdrawn its ambassador from Bahrain as a protest against attacks on opposition, MEHR reports.


Ambassador Mehdi Aga-Jafari started his diplomatic mission in Manam half a year ago.


Bahrain forces broke into a Shiite tent camp at the center of Manama. Heavy military equipment and helicopters were used. Three people died and hundreds injured.


The Shiite protests in Bahrain started in February. 75% of Bahrain population is Shiites. They demand expansion of rights and influence in the country, governed by the Sunnis.


Bahrain saw disorders on Monday. Saudi Arabia sent thousands of troops within the framework of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, consisting of Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia.


Opposition classified the entrance of forces as occupation.
