Armenian parliament to have commission on EEU issues
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe number of standing parliamentary committees in Armenia’s National Assembly will increase from nine to eleven, an MP from My Step faction Vladimir Vardanyan said.
According to the MP, one of the new committees will deal with the protection of human rights and public affairs, which in the previous parliament were handled by the committee on state and legal issues.
The second committee will oversee Armenia’s integration issues, stemming from its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
Vardanyan said that candidates for the posts of the Prosecutor General, heads and members of the Central Election Commission are supposed to be nominated by the committee on state and legal issues, the candidate for the position of the ombudsman – by the committee on the protection of human rights and public affairs. Candidates for the positions of chairman and members of the Chamber of Auditors, the chairman and deputy chairman of Central Bank, as well as members of its Board - by the committee on financial and budget issues, ARKA reported.
The candidates for the National Television and Radio Commission will be nominated by the committee on education, science, culture, Diaspora, youth and sport affairs. Three of the standing committees are to be chaired by representatives of opposition parliamentary factions.
