Iranian PressTV journalist arrested in U.S.
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAn American-born journalist working for Iran’s English-language Press TV, Marziyeh Hashemi, was arrested in the U.S. on unspecified charges, the state-run broadcaster reported.
"Marziyeh Hashemi was arrested in St. Louis and sent to custody in Washington DC although no formal charges have been pressed against her," the message reads.
"She was detained at St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Sunday, and has now been transferred by the FBI to a detention facility," Press TV added.
According to the broadcaster, Hashemi was in the United States to visit her family.
The journalist claimed that her hijab "had been removed against her will" during custody, and that U.S. officials denied her access to halal or vegan food for several days, leaving her with only pretzels and bread.
