Lavrov: we ready to discuss opening of another Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow is ready to discuss the opening of a second Russian military base with Bishkek.
"It's not our initiative," he noted. "It's the first time we've heard about it," RIA Novosti cited the minister as saying.
Russia will be ready to discuss with its Kyrgyz friends "those ideas in the security sphere they have," Lavrov said in Bishkek.
Kyrgyz ambassador to Russia Alikbek Jekshenkulov said that Bishkek does not exclude the opening of a second Russian military base - in the south of Kyrgyzstan (the first one, the Kant air base, operates in the north of the country).
