Moscow hosts Russian-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission meeting
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaToday in Moscow the 13th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian Intergovernmental Commission took place. From the Russian side, the commission was headed by the presidential envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin, and on the side of Azerbaijan by Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov.
During the meeting the Commission discussed a wide range of issues connected to the main directions of economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia and their perspectives, cooperation in transport, communications and information technology, prevention of emergency situations and any response to them.
One of the key questions discussed was the development of regional cross-border cooperation between the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan which can contribute to the general economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
"Since the last meeting many things have been done, but the potential of the relationship is significantly greater, and we have something to strive for," Alexander Khloponin told a press conference after the meeting, Vestnik Kavkaza reports.
In turn, co-chairman of the Azerbaijani Yagub Eyyubov said that Azerbaijan has always considered Russia a priority direction of cooperation. "Russia is our main trading partner. Our two countries do not have any problems that we could not solve," said Deputy Prime Minister of the Azerbaijani government.
The Commission discussed the draft intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in tourism, migration, youth policy, aviation search and rescue, as well as search and rescue operations in the Caspian Sea, the establishment of a permanent exhibition of Azerbaijan in Russia Exhibition Centre, and the measures to ensure the parallel work of power in Azerbaijan and Russia.
