United Russia Party becomes majority in Dagestani parliament

The United Russia Party will get 62 out of 90 seats in the Dagestani parliament, head of the electoral commission Magomed Dibirov said, RIA Novosti reports.

The commission received 5 notes from almost all the political parties taking part in the elections on March 15-16, except the Liberal-Democratic Party. The notes requested recounting of votes at some 100 polling stations. Recounting was organized for March 17-19.

84.84% of the population took part in the elections on March 13. United Russia received 65.21%, Fair Russia — 13.68%, Patriots of Russia — 8.39%, Communist Party — 7.27%, Right Cause — 5.09% and the Liberal-Democratic Party — 0.05%.

United Russia got 62 seats in the parliament, Fair Russia — 13, Patriots of Russia — 8, Communist Party — 6 and Right Cause — 1. Right Cause did not overcome the 5% barrier and failed to receive the 7% required to take part in mandate distribution.

Dibirov said that the electoral commission had approved the election results. The names of MPs will be announced later. Violations of the count will face punishment, he added.
