The long-term (five years) agreement with the Azeri company SOCAR is the basis of energy security of Georgia, said in Parliament Prime Minister Nika Gilauri, Trend reports.

"This agreement is beneficial for Georgia not only in terms of tariffs, as we get gas cheaper than everyone in the region, apart from Azerbaijan, but also in terms of balance of gas supply," he said.

Gilauri mentioned that in the last ten days Inguri hydroelectric power station did not work, yet it did not affect the energy supply to Georgia. "This happened due to the agreement with SOCAR, which supplied Georgia with the 500-600 million cubic meters of gas, " he said.
