Georgia exports 12 mln bottles of wine in two months

Georgia exported about 12.2 million bottles of wine to 32 countries in January-February 2019, which is a 13% increase compared to the same period of 2018, according to the Georgian National Wine Agency.

Last month Georgia generated $30 million from the sale of wine abroad – 21% increase year-on-year. 

The top countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-February 2019 were: Russia – 8,688,854 bottles, Ukraine – 976,482 bottles, Poland – 628,022 bottles, China – 600,783 bottles.

To European countries: Sweden – 313% increase (9,000 bottles), Lithuania – 75% increase (104,616 bottles).

To traditional export markets and Asia: Mongolia - 189% increase (66,012 bottles), Belarus – 1,389% increase (80,394 bottles), Russia - 17% increase (8,688,854 bottles).

To strategic export markets: United States – 1,032% increase (128,145 bottles), Poland - 42% increase (628,022 bottles), China - 7% increase (600,783 bottles).

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 4.2 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+89%) and 85,400 bottles of Chacha (+188%) abroad in 2018, Agenda.ge reported.
