The Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, answering a question from the corespondent of Vestnik Kavkaza today, on the eve of International Women's Day, wished the mothers of the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict the soonest possible arrival of peace to the region.

"I wish them only one thing - a soonest settlement and peace," she said.

Maria Zakharova also answered the question about European politicians' understanding of impossibility to build European security without Russia's participation.

"It is obvious to everybody. Some say about it in a negative way, saying that there is some sort of threat from Russia, others emphasize that Russia is one of guarantors of stability - but both admit that, indeed, it is impossible to ensuring security on the European continent without Russia," the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.

"Our country has repeatedly historically reaffirmed this role - the role of the state - a guarantor of stability and security, which bring peace, not aggression. A global example is the role of the USSR in World War II, and then it was repeatedly confirmed by our country's peace initiatives offered during negotiations at international platforms," Maria Zakharova recalled.

"As for whether everyone shares this position, then I think everyone understands it, but not all European politicians can talk about it in a constructive way," she concluded.
