Abdullah Gul states importance of EU membership

The president of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, has participated in a ceremony devoted to the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Entrepreneurs and Manufacturers Association. During the ceremony in Istanbul he commented on negotiations between Turkey and the EU, TRT reports.

He said that membership of the EU is one of Turkey's primary aims.
“When Turkey reaches the standards of the European Union, it will probably follow the example of Norway. Until that moment we will strive to enter the EU,” Gul stressed.
