Armenia Parliament Speaker: Democratic processes in Armenia are irreversible

The democratic processes following the non-violent revolution that took place in Armenia in April-May 2018 are irreversible. This is what Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan declared during a briefing following his meeting with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliane Maury Pasquier, News.am reports.

According to him, during the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation in various sectors and stated the major role and support of the PACE, the Commissioner for Human Rights and the Venice Commission in and to democratic processes in Armenia. They also stated the fact that the democratic processes following the non-violent revolution in April-May 2018 are irreversible. The interlocutors also touched upon the high evaluations of the Co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee and observers based on the results of the snap parliamentary elections and discussed the issue of the Armenian Genocide and issues related to human rights protection which are on the cooperation agenda.
