Russians detained in Tbilisi for online drug trafficking

An online drug trafficking scheme was uncovered and three drug dealers who are the citizens of Russia were detained, according to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The ministry revealed that he detainees were a group of organised drug dealers who came to Georgia to sell drugs.

"They were packaging the drugs in small packs, hiding them at different addresses in Tbilisi, taking photos of the drugs and posting them on the internet to sell them," Agenda.ge cited the Ministry of Internal Affairs as saying.

Police have seized hashish, a substance containing buprenorphine, MDM and norfentanyl from the homes of the detainees.

The crime is punishable by 8 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

So far this year 477 people have been detained for drug crimes, according to the ministry.
