Yerevan to install surveillance cameras

Yerevan will install surveillance cameras, General-Major Nerses Nazaryan, Police Chief of Yerevan, told a press conference on March 25, News.am reports.

There will be cameras at the Opera Theatre, on Aznavour Square and Republic Square, as well as near the Matenadaran. Another camera will be located at Nzhde Square in the Central District. A total of 10 spots will have cameras.

Surveillance cameras will contribute to fighting crime and to implementing justice. Nazaryan said that the cameras will also be another factor preventing the police from committing violations. The first stage of camera installation will be carried out in the first half of 2011.
