Mayor of Stavropol resigns

The mayor of the city Stavropol Nicholai Paltsev resigned this Friday, RIA Novosti reports referring to Stavropol city administration.

According to a source in the administration, Paltsev is expected to take up  the position of Deputy head of government of the Stavropol region responsible for the social sphere.

Paltsev was elected mayor in October 2008 for five years.

The new mayor of Stavropol under the Charter of the city will be chosen from among the members of Stavropol City Council.
