Turkey's largest mosque to open in Istanbul

The opening of the new Büyük amlıca Camisi mosque will take place in Istanbul today, during the Friday prayer, Turkish media report.

The opening ceremony of the largest mosque in the history of modern Turkey will be attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It is expected that the new mosque will be one of Istanbul’s symbols.

63 thousand people can pray at the mosque at the same time, the construction of the building lasted six years.
