Georgia will increase the number of hours for schoolchildren to study the Armenian language. A related agreement was concluded by Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan and his Georgian counterpart Dmitry Shashkin on Ashotyan’s visit to Georgia, Georgia Online reports.

There will now be an equal number of hours for both Armenian and Georgian languages. The decision was inspired by reduction of studies of the native language in Georgian schools with intensive studies of Armenian language. Specialists will also work on translating Georgian textbooks to Armenian.

Armenian-language teachers will be retrained. The sides also signed a memorandum on providing 10 scholarships for students of both countries.
