Armenia’s Supreme Judicial Council head resigns
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaHead of Armenia’s Supreme Judicial Council Gagik Harutyunyan has resigned.
In his statement placed on the official website of the country’s judicial authorities, Harutyunyan said that, taking into account developments related to the judicial authorities and judges and the concerns he voiced on May 20 in briefings, he found it reasonable to resign, ARKA reported.
Harutyunyan was elected in the post on March 5, 2018. His resignation came amid widespread disaffection for the country’s judges and courts, which has forced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan "to resort to surgical intervention."
