Iran's iconic anti-compulsory hijab protester Vida Movahed has been released from prison, her lawyer writes on Instagram.

Vida Movahed, 32, was dubbed the “Girl of Enghelab Street,” removed her head scarf in public in Tehran in December 2017 in a gesture of defiance. She was arrested in Autumn 2018 and sentenced to 1 year in prison in March 2019.

Dozens of women followed Movahed's move and removed their hijab and held it on a stick in public, in Tehran and several other cities during the winter of 2017-2018.
