Yerevan bans opposition protests
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe mayor’s office of Yerevan has forbidden the opposition Armenian National Congress to hold protests at Freedom Square, News.am reports.
The Executive Secretary of the Armenian National Movement Party Vaagn Ayotsyan said that he filed a letter on March 28 requesting permission for a protest marches from Freedom Square on April 14,15 and 16. The letter included the route of the protest march: Freedom Square – Mashtots Avenue, Amiryan Str. – Republic Square – Nalbandian Str.– Tumanyan Str. – Freedom Square.
The mayor’s office responded on March 29, saying that other events were planned at the Freedom Square on the requested days. The office offered a territory near Matenadaran for the protests.
