Grozny State Oil Institute becomes Technical University

In honor of this event, the rector of the university, Professor Hasan Taymashanov, the first Vice-Chancellor, Sharputdin Zaurbekov and the vice-rector on educational work, Ibrahim Gayrbekov, held a press conference.
According to Zaurbekov, university status allows the institute to expand the range of areas of specialist training. This year the university wants to apply for a license to train specialists in areas of engineering geodesy, power systems and electrical technics . He also added that the Ministry of Road's of the republic asked them to consider the possibility of training in road construction.
Currently Grozny State Oil Technical University has 8 faculties, an oil college and 47 departments. A branch of the University functions in Derbent (Dagestan). The university has about 3,500 full-time students and 576 professors.
