Armenia to expand cooperation with Switzerland

Armenia is ready to improve cooperation with Switzerland, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at an official dinner with Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey, News Armenia reports.
He said that common human values in Switzerland are at a very high level. The president thanked the government, people and parliament of Switzerland for recognition of the genocide of Armenians.
Sargsyan called for activization of economic ties and activation of cultural exchanges.
Calmy-Rey reminded his listeners that Switzerland aided Armenia at the time of the Spitak Earthquake in 1988. It continues supporting Armenia. The Swiss leader said that she will visit Gyumri tomorrow. She praised the work of the Swiss diplomatic mission in Armenia.
The Swiss president pointed out that there are numerous Armenians living in Switzerland. Armenia praised such figures as Jacob Kunzler, who gave accommodation to a thousand orphans.

Calmy-Rey underlined the attention Armenia pays to the International Francophone Organization, chaired by Switzerland this year. She congratulated Armenia on becoming an honorary guest at the Geneva Book Exhibition this year and noted that it will be an opportunity for Armenian writers and publishers to present their works.
