Polad Bulbul oglu answers Vakhtang Kikabidze

A few days ago, extremists staged another provocation on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, once again raising the issue of the Keshikchidag monastery complex (David Garej monastery complex). The attempt of destructive forces to provoke an interstate conflict has made both peoples’ hearts bleeding including the intelligentsia representatives. Yesterday, singer and actor Vakhtang (Buba) Kikabidze called for the elimination of any possibility of conflict. He also addressed friends from Azerbaijan including his friend Polad Bulbul oglu. In this regard, Vestnik Kavkaza asked the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Moscow to comment on the situation.

- Dear Polad Bulbyulevich, Vakhtang Kikabidze discussed with us the Georgian-Azerbaijani relations in connection with the dispute over the border monastic complex. He also addressed his friends from Azerbaijan, including you. What could you add?

- First of all, I want to thank Vakhtang, my good old friend, for not standing aside and expressing his opinion on the latest incidents on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border. I fully share his opinion. By tracking the chronology of events and analyzing what is happening, one gets the opinion that all this is a carefully planned provocation to split two fraternal peoples.

Thus, to avoid any undesirable scenarios, we should remember that the responsibility lies with the intelligentsia of our countries as well as with the correspondent state bodies. It seems to me that we must address extremists, who are certainly pushing for illegal actions, to stop and allow the commissions of our countries to resolve this issue. I think that the Georgian state bodies should act more decisively, suppressing provocative actions. As you know, the commissions have been created that are conducting scrupulous work on resolving this issue for the benefit of two states. I also want to emphasize the role of ordinary citizens of our countries, who, in my opinion, should show wisdom and not give in to all sorts of provocations. Azerbaijanis and Georgians are friendly peoples who have lived together for centuries. We are united by a common history and traditions. Our great ancestors are buried in Tbilisi. Some of them are Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Mirza Shafi Vazeh, Fatali Khan Khoyski, Hasan bey Agayev, and many others. We should not allow the realization of someone's dirty goals at the cost of our relationship and let them split us. Sometimes there are disagreements between neighbors and even one family’s members, but the problems that arise should be solved in a friendly atmosphere. I am sure that this will happen, and prudence will prevail.

Through your website, I would like to convey a big hello to Vakhtang and my dear Nani Bregvadze, who I adore and I am not afraid to admit it. We also love Georgia, we value our friendship. Buba stressed that he loves Azerbaijani music and cuisine. In February of next year, I will celebrate my anniversary. I sincerely invite Nani and Buba to Baku, where they will be able to perform, listen to Azerbaijani music, we will be able to speak and enjoy the dishes of Azerbaijani cuisine.
