US prepares operation in Persian Gulf

The US Central Command issued a relevant statement, according to which the preparation of the operation in the Persian Gulf began after the detention of a British tanker by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Acting US Secretary of Defense Richard Spencer approved the transfer of military contingent to Saudi Arabia to ‘protect US interests’ in the Middle East region.
“The US Central Command is developing an international maritime operation to strengthen surveillance and security on the key waterways in the Middle East, to ensure freedom of navigation amid the recent events in the Gulf region,” RIA Novosti reports.
