Russian, Chinese presidents congratulate Nazarbayev on poll win

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has called Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to congratulate him on winning the presidential polls, the Kremlin said, RIA Novosti reports.

Chinese Secretary General Hu Jintao has also congratulated Nazarbayev in a telegram. He noted that China and Kazakhstan are good neighbours, friends and partners.

The two countries started partnership ties 19 years ago.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev received 95.5% of the vote on April 3, the CEC said. Monitors from the CIS recognized the polls as democratic. The OSCE said the polls were flawed.
