Georgian winemakers increase exports to Russia

Georgia exported about 47.2 million bottles of wine to 47 countries in January-July of 2019, which is a 4% increase compared to the same period of 2018, according to the Georgian National Wine Agency.

In the reporting period Georgia generated over $114.2 million from the sale of wine abroad – a 6% increase year-on-year. 

The top 10 countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-July 2019 were: Russia – 29,132,711 bottles (an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year), Ukraine – 4,893,304 bottles, China – 4,249,687 bottles, Agenda.ge reported.

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 14.5 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+46%) and 306,200 bottles of Chacha (+40%) abroad.
