Source of radiation at Batumi port eliminated

The radioactive substance found previously in Batumi has been withdrawn, isolated and transported to a safe place and the port is operating on a partial basis, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia, the object was not dangerous to the population. The radioactive substance is caesium 137, which was often used in various military and measuring instruments during Soviet times and has a low radiation level. The object was found in the cargo of scrap metal in a railway carriage.
