Verkhovna Rada appoints Ukraine’s defense and foreign ministers

The Verkhovna Rada appointed Ukraine’s new foreign and defense ministers.

Vadim Pristaiko has been appointed Ukraine’s new foreign minister. The Rada approved the presidential nominee by a majority of 310 votes.

Andrei Zagorodnyuk has been appointed Ukraine’s defense minister. The nominee was approved by a majority of 314 votes.

Candidates to Ukraine’s defense and foreign ministers, as well as to chief of the Ukrainian Security Service are nominated by the president whereas the rest are nominated to the prime minister. At its first session earlier in the day, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Alexei Goncharuk the country’s prime minister, TASS reported.
