Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze will make a statement today. The exact subject of his appeal is unknown, but the announcement may have been linked to Bakhtadze’s resignation as Prime Minister, as been reported in recent days.

Members of the ruling party discussed the planned government changes at a parliamentary majority meeting yesterday, but lawmakers did not specify details, 1tv.ge reported.

Vice Speaker of the Parliament Gia Volsky said that discussions on the government changes will continue on Tuesday.

Asked whether Mamuka Bakhtadze will resign, Volsky said: "He will make a much better and in-depth statement on this issue than I can say in one word."

According to Georgian media reports, Bakhtadze can be replaced by Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia or Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili.

The next parliamentary election in Georgia will be held in Autumn 2020.
