Russia is interested in a de-escalation of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Speaking at an economic forum in Russia’s Far East, the Russian leader noted that while Moscow was interested in the de-escalation of tensions in the strait, "technically" it saw "no problem" in protecting its vessels through military means, Fars news reported.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in turn, said that India had put security arrangements in place to safeguard its oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
