Major queue on Kazakh-Uzbek border
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA large queue of people and transport occurred at the Tazhen car pass on the neutral territory between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The problem is a result of differences between the traffic capabilities of both sides.
The Kazakh border customs control takes half an hour to pass through. The Uzbek side takes several hours and lacks the simplified crossing system used in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan adopted an integrated control system on January 1, 2010, as part of the plan for lifting administrative borders for business and speeding up and simplifying border crossing.
Customs services control transport, sanitary, quarantine and epidemiology activities. It reduced the time needed for border crossing to 30-40 minutes. The older system required 3-4 hours to pass through, the customs control department of Mangystau Province said.
