Igor Babushkin officially appointed as head of Astrakhan region

Acting governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin gained 75.64% of the votes in elections of head of the region, TASS reported citing regional election commission.

State Duma deputy Nikolai Arefyev, nominated by the Communist Party, gained 11.81%. Timofey Shcherbakov, deputy of the regional Duma from the LDPR, received 5.12%, and Sergey Sychev, candidate from the Party of Pensioners, received 4.82%.

Turnout reached 33.52%. It was 40.62% in 2014.
