Over 2,000 kidnap cases remain unsolved in North Caucasus

Over 2,000 kidnap cases in the North Caucasus have still not been solved, Russian Prosecutor General’s Office in the North Caucasian Federal District said on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.


There were 67 cases of kidnapping registered in 2010, 111 in 2009. There are a total of 2,107 of such cases.


Almost 1,500 of them are in Chechnya.


The number of missing citizens increased by 4.3% (reaching 3,247) last year, the number of people found dropped by 17.6% (up to 2,123).


A complex program for search of kidnapped people was developed in the region for 2011-2014. It includes experience in searching for people and joint activities of all regions.
