Turk attacked Ukraine’s consulate in Istanbul because of quarrel with Ukrainian wife

A citizen of Turkey who was shot and wounded by a guard at the Ukrainian Consulate in Istanbul during an attempt to penetrate the building, staged the attack due to a quarrel with his Ukrainian wife, ukranews.com reports.

According to Istanbul Mayor Muammar Guler, the behavior of the 29-year-old Turk was provoked by disagreements with his spouse, who had recently returned from Ukraine. He emphasized that the attack was not provoked by any political or terrorist motives.

There is no information about the identity of the man, who burst into the territory of the General Consulate of Ukraine in Istanbul and fired several times in the direction of the staff of the diplomatic institution. A consulate guard fired in response, after which the Turk was wounded and disarmed. No consulate staff were injured as a result of the incident.
